What a Data Scientist Does

  • Lead, execute, and deliver data science initiatives for a major financial services in Thailand.
  • Develop detailed project scopes and methodologies, and design and implement solutions using appropriate analytical tools and techniques.
  • Maintain strong quality control processes and keep all project documentation current.
  • Monitor client portfolio growth, analyze spending patterns, and identify growth opportunities using non-traditional data sources and innovative modeling methods.
  • Provide data support for card-related campaigns, including customer tier identification, Test & Control setup and maintenance, and tracking of ongoing and tactical campaign performance.
  • Benchmark card portfolio performance against market trends to identify improvement areas and uplift opportunities using both internal and client data.
  • Regularly track and evaluate portfolio dashboards, focusing on market segments and channel opportunities, and deliver data-driven insights to enhance both ongoing and ad-hoc campaigns.
  • Improve existing data science and analytical approaches by introducing new methodologies and best practices.
  • Contribute to thought leadership in the data science field and build intellectual assets through continuous innovation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
  • Advocate for data science within partner organizations, offering guidance and coaching to analytical teams and sharing best practices and case studies.

What You Will Need

  • A degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, or Engineering; a master’s or Ph.D. is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data exploration, feature engineering, and related analytical work.
  • Proficiency in key statistical and machine learning techniques such as Neural Networks, Gradient Boosting, Linear and Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Markov Chains, Support Vector Machines, Clustering, Principal Component Analysis, Factor Analysis, and more.
  • Strong skills in query languages like Python and tools such as DBeaver, SQL, and Power BI for data analysis and management.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights to identify growth and improvement opportunities.
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent analytics projects involving diverse cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with a collaborative, adaptable, and diplomatic working style.
  • Strong presentation skills, able to clearly articulate complex concepts both verbally and in writing.
  • Expertise in storyboarding and data storytelling, with advanced skills in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of local market conditions and relevant industry regulations.
