Role Overview
The Head of Cloud Computing will lead the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud infrastructure in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on Microsoft technologies and Azure. This role requires expertise in building and hosting cloud environments, provisioning virtual machines, managing workloads, and optimizing costs. Familiarity with AWS and GCP is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Strategy & Architecture
- Define and execute the organization’s cloud strategy with Azure as the primary platform.
- Design hybrid or multi-cloud architectures to support manufacturing systems, IoT, and ERP.
- Establish governance and compliance frameworks for cloud adoption.
Infrastructure Design & Deployment
- Lead the setup and configuration of Azure environments, including virtual machines, networking, and storage.
- Implement containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and automation for workload scaling.
- Integrate cloud services with on-premises manufacturing systems.
Cost & Performance Optimization
- Monitor Azure resource utilization and implement cost-saving measures.
- Use tools like Azure Cost Management and Azure Advisor for optimization.
- Benchmark performance and negotiate vendor agreements.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and industry regulations.
- Implement Azure-native security features (e.g., Defender for Cloud, IAM policies).
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Build and lead a team of cloud engineers and architects.
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and business units to align cloud solutions with manufacturing needs.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on Azure advancements and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Drive initiatives for cloud-native applications and digital factory solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 10+ years in IT infrastructure with 5+ years in cloud architecture and operations.
Proven experience in:
- Designing and deploying Azure environments (mandatory).
- Virtual machine setup, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Cost optimization and workload management.
- Knowledge of AWS and GCP (nice-to-have).
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and compliance in cloud environments.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial systems preferred.
- Leadership and project management skills.
