Senior Process Engineer (Wastewater Treatment)

The Senior Process Engineer (Wastewater Treatment) will serve as the technical lead for brine crystallization and advanced wastewater treatment processes in industrial operations. This role is critical to ensuring sustainable, cost-effective, and compliant wastewater management solutions. The position emphasizes high-salinity wastewater treatment and brine crystallization technologies, while also overseeing biological treatment, membrane processes, and overall process optimization to achieve environmental and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Brine Crystallization (Core Focus)

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of brine crystallization processes for high-salinity industrial wastewater.
• Evaluate and select crystallization technologies to maximize water recovery and minimize waste.
• Troubleshoot, monitor, and improve crystallizer performance for efficiency, cost savings, and reliability.
• Partner with external technology providers, EPCs, and internal stakeholders to implement state-of-the-art crystallization solutions.

Wastewater Process Engineering

• Design, operate, and optimize biological systems(aerobic/anaerobic) for organic load reduction.
• Manage and improve membrane-based processes (RO/NF) for water recovery and reuse.
• Lead process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for plant operations.
• Develop mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and P&IDs for wastewater treatment facilities.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure wastewater treatment processes meet EHSSQ, local environmental regulations, and discharge permits.
• Support audits, inspections, and reporting to regulatory bodies.
• Drive initiatives to improve water sustainability and reduce environmental impact.

Project Management & Technical Support

• Lead and support capital projects related to wastewater and crystallization systems.
• Manage commissioning, start-up, and validation of new wastewater facilities.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Sustainability teams to align with business and ESG goals.

Continuous Improvement

• Drive cost reduction and resource efficiency initiatives through process innovation.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to wastewater treatment operations.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and plant operators on crystallization and advanced wastewater technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• ≥ 8 years’ process engineering experience in industrial wastewater treatment.
• Proven expertise in brine crystallization (must-have), with hands-on design, operation, and troubleshooting experience.
• Solid track record of leading process optimization, cost savings, and project delivery.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
